That ham picture makes me want to have fresh ham (not smoked) and cabbage... only thing i'm too lazy to babysit a boiling fresh ham for hours on end.Comment

Pernil, arroz con gondules, sweet plantains and pasteles. It's a traditional Puerto Rican Christmas dinner (or Christmas Eve dinner). And, I made it...sans the pasteles. My mother-in-law made those. She taught me how to make some Puerto Rican dishes, years ago. And, now, it's really coming in handy since she's handed Thanksgiving and Christmas over to me, when my wife and I are not in Indiana for one of those holidays.
