Gonna try and take a month off from facebook...

Avoiding social media before the star wars movie (to avoid spoilers) kinda felt good...

Gonna try a month off of facebook starting at midnight, even though I do a lot of promoting for my vintage toy shows on FB, my next one isn't for a while. While amusing, that place gets really heavy with ads and ugly personalities...
If anyone sees me post on my FB Vancouver Toy Junkies page in next month and calls me on it gets a cool vintage wgsh mego, ha!

I did the same for SW spoilers. I didn't miss a thing. Especially not the loud-mouthed people who think that they are a big deal on the internet.
If you check FB once a week, it's more than enough.

      Never was on facebook.

Still don't understand the popular appeal of it.

It's an easy way to connect with your friends. And a quick way to get pulled into an argument about a trivial thing.
I do like to chat with my international buddies, have a quick conversation.

I did the same a couple of weeks ago. It's been pretty great.

I still enjoy it. I like to collect rare Star Wars photos, so it's good for that. I hate how you have to see everything your friends like, because then it becomes tedious scrolling.

Very understandable. I only joined FB a couple of years ago and just only to promote my vintage toy shows, and it was effective in that regard...and I have a fake name (which is a no no) in order to avoid random people from my past from friending me...and I "unfollow" nearly every friend request I accept (although I enjoy SeattleEd's FB musings) and I never knew PMwasson was such an intense runner or that vinny0026 was such an intensely sentimental family man or that drcyclops was a political junkie or that bronxboykev liked food...waitaminit I knew some of this ha!

If I remember correctly, I finally relented and joined FB when the megomuseum page was being rebooted for that painfully long multi-week period a few years back....
the kicker for me was when people would insert star wars spoiler randomly in non-movie threads (with pictures!) just for the sheer cruelty factor of ruining the movie for fans... I was also inspired by Imp taking occasional multi-month breaks and how it helped his mental health ha!

Yeah, I took a break before I got a chance to see the new Star Wars film, because I know there are a lot of jerks out there. I didn't miss FB one bit, but I'm not on there much anyway.
