I set up as a dealer at a semi local toy show on Sunday. I used to sell at this one 15+ years ago. My oldest son (13) has been bugging me for the past few months to sell at it, so I finally agreed. The show happens every couple of months and has been going on for 25 years so it's pretty established. Funny thing, the tables I got were only a row away from my "usual" spot I used to have all of those years ago.
We had to leave around 5:30am to get there before the early bird people came in. I had forgotten how much work it is
We usually come over to the show several times a year, so I know quite a few of the dealers. I enjoyed talking with the people the most I think. Seeing people's eyes light up when they see stuff they haven't seen in years is always fun. I sold a guy a vintage Dr. Evil and he was just holding it and trying to explain it to his wife, and that was priceless....
I brought lots of vintage GiJoes, Captain Action, had some Mego's as well. I had a boxed Shogun Warrior, two 18" Kenner Aliens etc.... I ended up selling all of the vintage Star Wars stuff I brought, including a large R2D2 toybox. Everyone asked about the Aliens, but they came back home with me.
I ended up doing ok sales wise and was happier to have moved some of the large stuff and bringing less back home is always good. The only negative was it's really hard to circulate when you have to man your table so looking for new stuff to bring home was tough.
My son brought some stuff to sell too, and he was a little disappointed with his sales, but he did make some money. Before it was over he asked if we could do the next show too, I'm not committing on that yet
