    THE TEN COMMANDMENTS- The Movie

Well, its the first PASSOVER since Heston passed (RIP)

    Any thoughts on the movie?

My dad cut his teeth on this flick as a kid.

And when I was a kid---he had me watch it---
and told me that the green mist that killed all the
Egyptian firstborn was the same ANGEL OF DEATH that killed
all the Nazis in RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK.

I was soooo tripped out, man.

Exactly For us its sort of an Easter Tradition to watch this. Truly this movie is epic in scale. Remember they used hundreds and hundreds of extras for the exodus scenes. NO CGI
Lo there do I see my Father.
Lo there do I see my Mother and my Sisters and my Brothers.
Lo there do I see the line of my people back to the begining.
        Lo they do call me.
They bid me take my place among them.

I actually picked this up on DVD recently, mostly because it also included the 1923 silent version. The Heston version is a great film with a stellar cast. what I didn't know before listening to the film commentaries was that a fair number of the extras were also in the 1923 version 33 years before. Cecil B. DeMille was a firm believer in giving work to actors and actresses who'd done good work for him in the past.

I remember visiting Universal Studios in the 1980's and on one of their backlot tours, they had the prop that parted the Red Sea and our tram drove right through it....not sure if it is still there or not but a memorable experience.
