A Very Murray Christmas

anyone else see the Bill Murray Christmas special on Netflix? I guess I wasn't expecting it to be so bitingly melancholy. The entire time I'm watching it, I'm thinking "are they TRYING to make this feel like Lost in Translation?!" Then I see the credits and realize that Sofia Coppola produced and directed it.

Hmm, I was a fan of Lost in Translation, I'll have to check this out.

I watched it with wifey last night. We both liked it.

I was entertained by the concept - I took it as a Christmas special for adults - in the style of specials adults would have grown up with, but also about the mixed emotions of Christmas for people who aren't kids. There was a bit of melancholy, but also lots of silly fun. It was nice to see a non-cynical, but even handed look at the joy and pain of Christmas time.

I thought it was a bit weird for Murray sing so much, but I could have watched Murray and Shaffer just hanging together for another 3 hours. Also Maya Rudolph, who stole the show.
