"Why My 1970s Christmas Was Way Better"

I found this little goodie while I was browsing "70s Christmas" on Pinterest this morning. Enjoy and discuss:

They say that when you have kids you get to relive the magic of the holidays all over again, see Christmas through their eyes. I suppose that's true -- to an extent.

"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

Even though I run a 70s nostalgia site, I cringe at the discussion of who had the better childhood. I've been berated over the years by baby boomers taking that attitude, it's just so weird to me.

Childhood is always fun and there wasn't one better than the other. I celebrate what I love but don't doubt children of the 60s or 80s feel they lived in special times, that just means they were successful.

PS I still get my tree in a supermarket parking lot.

Well, I only posted it b/c it's only natural that people think that their decade was the most fun. That's where our memories are, and what shapes who we are and the things we're interested in. I wasn't trying to start a war here. And considering the article was written from a mom's POV, I didn't think it was weal.

Reflecting on every decade I have grown up in since the 60's, I would say the 70's was by far the most fascinating. In my mind, it was the last creative decade in music and provided some of the biggest, most iconic movies that I love. Add in all of the classic television series and it's a lock. Christmas will always go with that, but that's subjective because that was my period to be young and get rewarded for it. I haven't recovered.

Man, with the effort I've been putting in making Elf on the Shelf gags for my kid, she better be having the best Christmas ever.

Seriously, though, like anything else, it's all when you grew up.
