Does anybody here have TiVo cable ?

Just got a TiVo box from my cable company

They were running a special and it actually cost $27.00 less per month than my current dinosaur box.

Problem is no matter what I try I can't get a recorded show to stop.

Say i'm watching a recorded show and get bored with it half way through --- I have to FF to the end and wait for the recording to official end and stop.

Here's a scan of the remote --- it's clearly been used before looking at the wear.

Had TiVo until just recently but don't recognize that remote. Might be an older model? In any case, can't help with your issue. Might be a problem with the box?

Or... perhaps that older remote carries some of the coding that works your unit but not others, like the stop function. Or, the stop button is dirty and or worn and does not complete the circuit when you press it. See if a universal remote will work

Since this is obviously itself a dinosaur device, have you at least replaced the batteries?

I don't think you need to explicitly "stop". Just press the Tivo button to go to the main menu, or the Live TV button (whichever you want to do)... and it should stop the current playback automatically.
