    What's you favorite hot cereal?

With cooler weather upon us, I thought I'd see what different folks here on the boards like to eat for breakfast in the hot cereal category.

I've always been a bigger fan of Cream of Wheat than oatmeal, however oatmeal has the edge inasmuch as it's supposed to be better for you (reducing your cholesterol and all the jazz) and seems to be a much broader canvas for adding in other stuff like various fruits and nuts. If I do eat oatmeal, I prefer the steel0cut variety because it doesn't have a tendency to get quite as mushy as regular, flat oats. I also really like Cream of Rice with some cinnamon and sugar added, but it's very hard to find lately.
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

Haha! This morning, I just ate some Cream of Rice. I love it w/ butter, canned milk, vanilla extract, and sugar. My second fave is Quaker Instant oatmeal. I love all the varieties, except Bananas and Cream. I used canned milk in that, too.

(BTW...if you have a Safeway or Lucky's in your area, they usually carry Cream of Rice.)

I'm not really a big fan of hot cereal but since I have to watch my cholesterol then I would go with Cinnamon & Spice Quaker Instant Oatmeal followed by Apples & Cinnamon. While I like the Peaches & Cream, I wasn't too fond of the Banana & Cream either.

I never could stand Cream of Wheat and I have yet to try Cream of Rice.

Quaker Oats...I add raisins, cinnamon and brown sugar. It's like eating a bowl of oatmeal raisin cookies. YUM!

Nature's Path Organic Oatmeal is my go to one...then Quaker Oats Organic. None with any flavorings, for that, I'd like to add some sliced bananas or fresh blueberries...heck, both sometimes...and a tad of honey...

used to go with Quaker Raisin and spice when it finally gets cool down here. It seems to be discontinued, so its raisin date and walnut now, with butter and milk.

Shredded wheat, pour boiling water on it, drain, add milk and brown sugar (although I havent had this in 30 years)
I started eating unflavoured Oatmeal with unsweetened applesauce, and a bit of cinnamon everyday for breakfast this summer. Probably most healthy I've eaten in years.

I honestly believe I'd rather not eat than have to eat hot cereal.

Where my family is from in Europe we eat Breakfast Polenta which is like a "cream of corn". Runnier than regular polenta. Similar to grits but made with yellow corn meal and thicker. Sometimes sweet with fruits and syrup, sometimes savory with some bacon or fried, cured ham bits.

They still make Raisins and Spice. I have a box in my kitchen cabinet.

I have a bowl every morning for the last 2 years.
For the last three months I have been adding 3/4 scoup of whey protein and 1 teaspoon of peanut butter.
