Went into my kitchen to make myself a balonie and cheese sandwich.

About half way to being done for a half second I smelled the worst smell you could possibly smell - the smell of something dead and rotten... It was crazy strong like enough to make you puke.

Then it went away as fast as it came.

Afterwards did a complete kitchen inspection and couldn't find anything that would make that smell...

Even opened up the window to see if it came from outside... nope

Even thought maybe a dead mouse in the wall - so I sniffed the walls ... nope

I kinda remember a movie saying that kind of thing could be caused by an evil spirit.

I don't believe in any of that nonsense but thought it might make an interesting discussion

ALL of our senses are fallible.

Phantosmia or olfactory hallucinations are well known and well documented occurrences. Usually hallucinatory smells are really bad smelling, like the one you described. I don't want to be an alarmist, but you should maybe mention this to your doctor to rule out anything serious.

did you check your breath? just kidding. seriously though, you might want to pay attention and see if that happens again and if so mention it to your doctor, that can be a symptom of health issues

Rotting food in the drain (p trap) or the disposal? That wouldn't be readily apparent but might waft up from the drain. Also, I would think there might be other signs if you were being visited by the supernatural.

That would be my guess. Besides, demons are usually accompanied with a more sulfurous smell.

Many programs and books about the supernatural do mention a foul smell, but maybe it's just a sinus infection?
I'd hold off on that exorcist for a moment. And baloney and cheese..
