That's exactly how I feel. Life = Disappointment is the equation that best sums up the meaning of Peanuts to me. I love the Peanuts, but my emotional attachment has more to do with finding it comforting because it described the unique feeling of discovering melancholy. It was funny, but I never remember busting a gut laughing. Peanuts, to me, was always more complex and internal.
This move looks more gag focused and my guess is that there's no way it's not going to have a happy ending.
I don't want to spoil anything, but if this is the reason you give it a pass, you might be surprised...
