Yep, I do, along with mustard and onions (unless I'm getting a chili dog, I wouldn't put ketchup on that). On one forum I visit, we had this topic and there were a bunch of hot dog elitists claiming that you NEVER put ketchup on a hot dog, that would be sacrilege unless you a little kid or something. I was like, it's a frigging hot dog, it's junk meat! It's not the sort of meal you are allowed to be a food snob about.

Yep, and in Japan you're sure not getting ketchup on your dog if you buy one at the Ghibli Museum.

I'm 100% with you. I do not get their appeal at all. To me it's just flavorless meat paste. A good sausage is a whole other story.

I definitely put ketchup on hot dogs. They are all man made inventions anyway. Fusion is all about blending and creating more things.

You think Mexicans put cheese and sour cream on tacos? Heck no, but it's perfectly fine if people do, nothing wrong with that.

Eat anything you like, that's my motto.

Cultures have borrowed from other cultures through the centuries. Chili peppers, corn, tomatoes, vanilla, chocolate, potato...those were all indigenous to the New World, the Americas. In turn, cattle, pork, cheeses, wine, beer, bread, limes, coffee, etc...that all comes from the Old World, Asia, Europe, Africa...

There are no rules in cuisine...it's whatever humans create.

Now pass me the bloody ketchup...

    No. It's hot dog sacrilege!!!!

I did as a kid, actually, and still do on corn dogs (ketchup and mustard on those). But, I've become a purist. Mustard only, or mustard and sauerkraut. Or chili cheese dogs!
