Cubs Win! Cubs Win! Cubs Win!

No worries the Jays will come through tomorrow! I'm hoping for a Toronto vs Chicago World Series down the road

I'm sad the Cardinals lost, but please let's make sure that Back to the Future was correct now!

I've been a Cubs fan since the day I was born. Went to my first game at Wrigley in 1976 and fell in love with the place. I don't get to go to games too often now, as tickets for sporting events in general have become cost prohibitive. But, I was able to make it to 3 of them this year (2 at Wrigley and 1 in Milwaukee on the final day of the season).
I've had my heart broken by this club more times than anyone could imagine. I'll always remember 1984 as the year MLB robbed the Cubs of playing in the series by taking home-field advantage away from the Cubs and moving the extra game to San Diego because they had lights and could play a night game and, hence, boost ratings. I'll remember the 89 team being overmatched by a red-hot-hitting Giants club. I'll remember 98 as a fluke steroid-filled run that was cut short. I'll remember 03 for all the misery that sprung from being a handful of outs from the Series. I'll remember 07 and 08 as being a couple of the most unlikeable, boring squads ever assembled and mismanaged.
But this team? This team has been the most fun to watch since 1984. If you don't have a dog in this year's playoffs, you could do a LOT worse than rooting for the Cubs. A bunch of likable, young, talented guys with a fantastic manager who has pushed all the right buttons in the 2nd half. I'm having a blast.
PS, I'm still waiting for that Schwarber home run to come back down to earth. That's the 2nd most-impressive HR I've ever seen hit at Wrigley behind a Glenallen Hill one back in the 90s that broke a window on one of the buildings across the street.Comment

Wonder if the guy who reached for the foul ball in the Cubs/Marlins series a few years back, will
get an invite to Wrigley for this series? I hear he's living it up in Miami.
Speaking of the Marlins, why is there a guy sitting behind home plate I forget which games he's at
wearing a bright orange Marlins jacket? anyone notice him? you can't miss him, he sits behind home plate
about 3-4 rows up' doesn't he know the Marlins aren't in the playoffs?Comment
