What are your favorite unlikely crossover "hits"?

Japan- ghosts (no idea how it got airplay but I loved it.)
Steam- na na na (kiss him goodbye)
A b-side from a band that that was recorded for a few hundred bucks.
The Hives- hate to say I told you so
their raw sound broke them out of the Swedish Punk scene into the rock revival of the 2000's.
    New Order-Blue Monday
    Foster the People-pumped up kicks

I remember b-sides.... What makes a current song like Foster The People a b-side? Serious... I don't know... When songs were on 45's, there was an A and a B side... Without two sides, I was just wondering.

Just going against the grain and getting airplay. Pumped up kicks was a top ten hit.

I was going to say "Lou Grant", but it turns out that this is a music thread.

I didn't even know artists still made full albums nowadays.

Um, I miss the days when we had great music. I had several 45s back in the day but I don't really care for any of these new bands. Foster the People used to get to played at my store quite a bit, never really cared for this group. I miss the old days but at least BECK is releasing a new album

those guys are too pretty to be a rock band. More like a boy band playing at being a real band.
