Anybody else here drink seltzer ?

I drink seltzer often in place of soda.

Offered one to somebody and they said "I never had that before, isn't that an old man's drink ?"

Let's just say they were not happy with it's taste... "how can drink that garbage ?"

It was Schweppes brand so it wasn't anything from the bottom shelf... I love it

    Anybody else like seltzer ?

My wife is a native New Yorker and drinks seltzer 90% of the time. I don't care for it. Generally, I drink water all day.

When we go to Indiana, Seltzer isn't the most prevalent item at the grocery store. However, it's much easier to find there, now, than it was in 2001 when we got married.

I have a very odd memory related specifically to Schweppes selzer. When Jeff, a childhood friend of mine, moved down to the Princeton area in the early '80s, we went and visited him one weekend. He had the whole vintage rec-room thing going on in the basement, and we mostly hung around down there playing "Mr. Do!" on his ColecoVision. But his parents (who I think enjoyed a drink or two, if you know what I mean) had this ridiculously huge mountain of selzer in the corner, as if they were hoarding it up for a post-nuclear apocalypse or something. Since it was just sitting there, we basically chugged bottle after bottle as we sat around playing video games for hours, until it was time to leave and his mother came down, outraged that we had depleted their precious stash. I remember feeling a bit ill on the way back home...

        That's a funny story

Almost the same exact thing happened to me but it was cases of Pabst rather than seltzer

my wife drinks it all the time. I don't like the taste. I will drink some of the flavored ones though if there is nothing else. I try not to drink soda too often so if it is a choice between the two, flavored seltzer wins

I love Perrier...I drink it all the time.

...over crushed ice, squeeze a little lime...and a super slight pinch of sea salt, man, that's good stuff...

Straight from the bottle is good too...

Every day. It's what I used to wean myself off soda, and I've never looked back.

When you said Perrier the first thing I thought of was Mel Brooks sniffing Perri-Air in Spaceballs

I drank a lot of it this summer. It keeps me from drinking soda, adding a squirt of lime really helps. Makes it quite refreshing.

Count me as another who replaced soda with seltzer. One of college roommates turned me on to it in the 80's. It's a great way to get down a lot of water each day.

For peeps that love seltzer and watching their salt intake, read the labels

                        Some seltzers add salt

Yeah, that's one of the reasons that I can't drink seltzers.

I do enjoy straight seltzer water (I always make sure I buy the kind that doesn't have any salt in it) poured into my diffuser bottle, usually with something citrusy like a lemon, lime or orange. Strawberries and pomegranate arils work pretty good, too.

On the East coast they have Polar brand seltzers. No salt and lots of different flavors.
                              It's all good!
