I love the wacky lo-fi synth approach---as long as the songs are tight---which is why I prefer the similarly toned McCartney II which is probably in my top 3 favorite solo McCartney albums.

Alice Cooper had a string of absolutely terrible albums. Flush the Fashion, Special Forces, Zipper Catches the Skin and Dada.

Kiss Dynasty (their disco album), Kiss Unmasked and Peter Criss' solo album are also really bad.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I agree those Cooper albums are bad, but there's something about them that I love. Maybe it's because they are so disjointed, or because they were made during Alice's darkest days of alcohol and drug abuse and what came from that is fascinating to me, I don't know for sure. I definitely like them better than Dragontown or Brutal Planet or Welcome to my Nightmare 2, which I have no interest in listening to again.

I love Unmasked too. HAHA! What can I say?

Although it was a huge bomb at the time, KISS' "Music from the Elder" is a great album IMO, just not what their fans were looking for or expecting at the time. Peter's solo album has a couple good songs but that's it.

I like it too. It has some clunkers, but also some great songs, I absolutely love the title track.

The first three of his "lost" albums only have a few songs that I like, but I love DaDa and personally think it's a sadly overlooked Alice classic, terribly underrated. Funny, I've actually been listening to it a lot recently, I'm on a bit of an Alice kick right now.

                  Kiss "The Elder"
Although most people don't like these albums I LOVE Black Sabbath in all there incarnations after Ozzy and DIO! '"Born Again, Seventh Star, Headless Cross" being my favorites..The only one I don't like is "Forbidden"
For anyone here into Extreme Metal (I know there has to be one or 2 of you here) the last Morbid Angel album was one of the worst albums I have ever heard in my entire musical lifetime.

Dynasty and Unmasked are guilty pleasures of mine. Unmasked has some great songs on it that I would personally classify as very good power pop.

Don't care for Clones or really any of Alice's songs from that era. I find them hard to listen to and the videos even harder to watch. To me, the Clones music video shows an obviously very ill man trying to do disco long after its popularity had already faded.

That's why I'm glad the UK versions are available: Both are all Beatles music, no film instrumentals...

DaDa is great! "Former Lee Warmer", "Scarlet and Sheba" and "I Love America" are favorites of mine. And the weird "DaDa" opening.

And his look during that era is just so... out there! I think he was trying to be current by doing new wave and looking like his version of DEVO/Buggles etc. I just love it.

I have the opposite with The Killers. I'm not a fan of any of their stuff, except I love the collection of b-sides and rejects on Sawdust.
I never thought the White Stripes were as good as the Strokes or The Hives.

I agree the Killers are hit or miss. But I enjoyed Sawdust the most. Tranquilize with Lou Reed being the gem from the album.

And the MJ Albums after dangerous were History, invincible and Michael and Xcape after his death.
I think America's love affair with Michael ended and he fell out of touch with reality and pop culture by the time Dangerous came out.

I'm gonna hijack it a bit more.

I think I read somewhere that of all the albums Alice recorded in this era (he doesn't even remember most of it), "Scarlet and Sheba" is the song he'd most want to revisit. Great song! I think it's funny that Warner Brothers gave Alice and Bob Ezrin money to record the album just out of obligation, it was the last one on his contract with them, and thought they would just go away. They were surprised when Cooper and Ezrin actually recorded and delivered an album. They weren't expecting to get one, so that's why Warner did zero promotion for it, and also since Alice was too sick to do a tour to support it (he has never performed any songs from it live), it just kind of died and was forgotten.
