One of the KISSOLOGY box sets included the European theatrical cut, "Attack of the Phantoms" but I don't believe that the original televised version has had a DVD release.

That's correct. The American version released on VHS remains unreleased for DVD. And it does play differently from European version.

Many of the Old Shaw Brothers Kung Fu films aren't available either.....or they are pan and scan and not worth watching.

I love "It Came from Hollywood" and still have the VHS, I assume it's a nightmare due to all the copyrights.

A lot of these are. Anything based in songs, which seems to be quite a few, have rights/royalties issues.

I'd assume "It Came" fell into that. My gawd, that lived on HBO for years.

A number of the sci-fi/horror movies with 80's artwork boxes was schlock that got a bare theatrical release, if any stateside, so the rights are most likely lost.

I'm interested why some of the 90's D2V titles never got a DVD release. Shadowzone, Nightwish, Lurking Fear were all made for VHS distribution.

Highway To Hell is probably the biggest of the non-releases. It's an easily marketable cast list and the writer became a huge name, Oscars and all.

I'm not really surprised due to the subject matter, few raised an eyebrow in 1980 but I don't think that would be the case in 2015 (actually I kind of remember this film getting a little bit of bad publicity back then, but if it was remade today there would be a lot of fuss).

I think the culprit is more the music rights than the subject matter.

They missed a few. Six Weeks starring Dudley Moore and Mary Tyler Moore is also not on DVD yet. Also the Earthling with Ricky Schroeder and William Holden.

Tons of bootleg DVDs, but only officially released on VHS...what a crime...

The European edit of the film (which removes most of Ace Frehley's dialogue) is available on DVD as part of Kissology Volume Two: 1978–1991, a collection of concerts and television appearances. Previously, availability was limited to two brief VHS releases in the 1980s and a laserdisc release in 1991. In 2005, distributor Cheezy Flicks attempted to release the original TV film version of the film on DVD, but due to legal issues, the disc was quickly pulled.

Now for the rest I have on VHS/DVDR and lots more that were have dropped from site. Whenever I go to the flea market I look at VHS tapes trying to find more never to be released on DVD. I also look on ebay. I also look at old records that within my lifetime will be forgotten about and lost. There is something about that cover art that will be missed.

I saw "Something Evil" with Darren McGaven on there. Oddly enough, I tend to be more into old TV movies like that than actual theatrical releases, so I have a giant DVD-R collection of those things. A bunch have been officially released on DVD in the past few years, but it seems that for some reason, the rights to most of them went into the public domain long ago, so you can find many on Youtube or through various online sellers, and it's all perfectly legal, from what I understand.

The film that I want to see again most and is not on DVD is Speed Zone (Cannonball Fever). I thought that was such a hilarious flick when I was young. Must have rented it at least 15 times. It was release in Canada on VHS. Basically this is Cannonball 3 but without Burt and a whole slew of famous faces ... John Candy, Donna Dixon, Matt Frewer, Joe Flaherty, Tim Matheson, Melody Anderson, Shari Belafonte, Art Hindle, Dick Smothers, Tom Smothers, Peter Boyle and John Schneider.

BUT!!! I also remember very fondly a flick with Lee Majors called The Last Chase and when I finally tracked down a copy of that on DVD it was HORRIBLE! Not sure what my teenage head was thinking there. So perhaps age and nostalgia has made Speed Zone into a better film in my mind then it really is ...

I caught it on Netflix recently. It had a great cast, but to be honest, I kinda thought it stunk.

I'd really like those mish mosh Gerry Anderson ITC TV Movies that were assembled in the 1980s to come out on DVD in a compilation, they did them for Space:1999, UFO, Captain Scarlet, Thunderbirds, Joe 90 and even non Anderson stuff like The Champions. I collect them on VHS and I know they're tossed into European DVD releases, not a whisper here though....

The Japanese Animated Dracula is on the list but the Frankenstein Japanese Animated version is not on the list and I know that it hasn't been released on DVD. I have both on VHS. 'Let It Be' is not on the list. Always looking for out of print VHS when I go to flea markets/thrift stores/garage sales. There is a market for them on ebay. Just found a 'Looking For Mr. Goodbar' just last week at my local thrift store.

At least 25 those titles we had at my cousins video store. The Horror Titles like Monster Dog we had the "Big Box" version. If you get a chance check finished auctions on ebay in the VHS section and look at how many of the highest sellers are "Big Box" tapes.
