Mego 10 years from now ???????

Where do you see yourself as it pertains to collecting Mego's 10 years from now? Most (maybe not all) of us here at the forum seem to be at or around the young wise age of lets say mid 30's to mid 40's give or take. I personally will be 47 years younger in about ten years from now. The reason I ask this is I am kind of curious to know how our collecting habits may or may not change as we age (to perfection I might add) I do realize of course that there are a lot of unforseen circumstances that can and often do arise in our futures to come. Keeping in mind of course that there is nothing typed here that will be considered etched in stone. This is just a general quandry to get the juices flowing to see what is your general idea.

I personally believe that I will still be collecting Mego's and hopefully all of the great EMCE's that will continue to roll out in years to come. Although I will have quite a bit of everything that I would ever want by then I would imagine. Unless it is just some piece that is "stoopid" rare or maybe something that I really have no desire to collect to begin with. ??? I would like to hope that my knowledge base will increase more as it pertains to all of the different variations in Mego's. I would also like to hope that I will get much, much better at customs as I am currently only just starting to dabble with custom stuff right now. What are your thoughts?
Enjoy what you like, and let others enjoy what they like. (C) Azrak 2009

I suspect those who are passionate about it will remain so the same way 12" joe collectors do (many of them are late 40's to late 50's now). The question is really if emce will grow new interest to flesh out the ranks.

I think I will probably still love Megos and have lots, but I think I will have thinned down my toy collection by then, it's a bit outta control right now.

I have no idea. I will probably have a little Ape City up in my backyard, hopefully, and I will still have the strength to climb up that steep hill. I will be in my early 50s by then...but I will still be young at heart.

I see myself relaxing on a Mexican beach drinking loads of ice cold Coronas.

I can't tell say for sure if I'll be still collecting Megos into my 50s...but I'll sure be getting drunk on a beach, that's for sure.

Think about this, Mego-heads... in 10 years there will be LAYERS of Mego/Megolike collection that will boggle the mind.

Of course, the classics will still be out there and all of us mid-40s/50's folks will still be going after them. There will also be younger ones who appreciate them. My daughter will definitely be crazy for them (along with her individual passion for American Girl Dolls).

In addition to that, there will be collectors looking at trying to get defunct CTVTs (hard to find with ankles still intact) and first issue EMCE figs. Finally, I think the passion for 9-inch stuff will go up before it's all said and done.

And, like MLK, I have a dream: that the collector's "profit" market will dwindle and we'll all be collecting out of love of the art and the nostalgia (like most of the members here), not out of greed!

I'll still be in it, but mostly doing customs. I have all the Megos I want excepting the Bat lab now.

                      Jessica,

Based on the pic I saw of you with the travelling mego card. I think you'll be sprinting up and down that hill : )

I think I'll still have megos and maybe even acquiring new ones. But like Cat, I think my collection might be thinned down. I could see myself passing a few of them on to nieces or nephews.

I think with Robot Chicken and Dr. Mego plus the EMC company. Eventually we wil be seeing a return of these figures to the modern toy market. Think about it, look at the demand for the Star Trek figures? Robot Chicken is pretty popular. Just my thought.

I think in ten years time all I'll be able to afford will be broken knee customs.
