Thank you. You are correct as well. I am not sure what is the worst feeling. Missing the lotto numbers by not getting anything or missing the jackpot by one stinking number or digit and wonder what if the rest of your life. Congrats to your Aunt on her close win. I do agree with you that it is better to win something than nothing. Good luck to you and your aunt as well. I am sure she continues to play as many do after getting that close. Who knows....someday perhaps.

Thank you and will do on rubbing some luck your way. I had actual plans to hire you as my seamtress as you do such great work. I can only hope that your wonderful services are still available when I get that other number some day.

Thank you! Do not give up hope as it is so easy to do so. The most I had ever won in the lotto before my "lucky streak" kicked in was only a measly $50.00 on a scratcher. That has been some time ago and that was like after I had invested I dunno how many of $$$'s to win it over time. So technically I won $50.00 on the scratcher and yet I still came out in the hole.

Thank you so much. Not to worry as the most of it will mostly go toward more Mego/EMCE goodies so spending it all will not be a problimo at all.

The gf will definitely prosper from it as well no doubt. She generally does pretty well most all of the time anyways. Congrats to you on your M&M tshirt win. That sounds cool. I know people that collect M&M stuff. Are you a collector by chance? A complete surprise is always nice. Enjoy your new win proudly. I would if I were you.

Ok, I just uploaded the pictures of the winning scratchers to my photobucket account. I stand corrected on the winning of these scratchers as I thought it was last week. In actuallity as you can see by the date stamp on the picture is was actually a couple of weeks ago. My how time flies when one is having fun. I still need to look for that other ticket that I scanned in with the other 5 numbers for anyone who cares to see further proof.

Looks like the above winning scratchers was a total of $245.00 - Not a bad win for a $100.00 (5 scratchers X $20 each) investment I suppose. One scratcher was a total bomb with nothing on it so I did not bother to scan that one in.

Congrats on the win. Here's the big question for you. Have you won more money playing the lottery than you have lost purchasing tickets?

If you play regularly, unless you have luck above and beyond statistical odds, I'd venture to guess you've lost more money than you have won.

But good for you.. I suggest you use some of the winnings to purchase the book "The Millionaire Next Door"...it's a really good read if you haven't done so already and will give you some great insight about your own ability to generate and maintain wealth.

Hello and thank you. I do not consider myself a big gambler. I play every now and then, but not constant so I would like to think that I am up right now in winnings as of date. Of course that is all subject to change based on my future play and success or lack of in the future to achieve more wins than losses. My gf on the other hand now that is a different story. She wins a $100.00 on a scratcher and thinks that she is a real winner when in reality I know she has spent literally thousands over time just to win that $100.00 scratcher she calls a winner. I know for a fact because I keep all of the non winning scratchers that she and I buy when I do buy them which is far and in between for me. I told her that one day I plan on wall papering a room with them as there are and will be so many at her continued rate of play. At last count last year I had easily counted over $2,000.00 in losing scratchers. She may have won like a couple of hundred dollars max. here and there so you can see how her win/loss ratio is going so far. Pretty much what one would and can expect as you stated. Same thing with an Aunt of mine who is a Diamond Member (pretty much nothing more than a fancy title that the casino gives one that really means someone that has spent a lot of money at the casino) at Harrah's Casino. Truth be known behind closed doors the casino big whigs probably really refer to the title as dumb ace status. She (my Aunt that I speak of) goes over to "the boat" as we call it for better lack of terms almost on a daily basis. Lets put it this way she does not miss too many days far and in between that she is not there at one casino or another in East St. Louis and the surrounding areas. I know for a fact that she has dropped quite a bit of moolah at the boats as I have been with her for dinner on a couple of rare occasions. I personally am not big into the boat or gambling at the casino scene as I to believe that there are way more losers than they are winners. My Aunt whom I just use here as an example gets FREE rooms, dinners and lots of other blah, blah that really does not amount to a hill of beans when you look at it from a loss/win perspective. She is definitely down in the $$$, but she is constantly a winner at the casinos. Go figure. Some people may be reading this and are thinking what? How can that be? She spends a lot of money to get that small win in other words. Last years taxes she filed winnings on approx. $90,000.00 that she had won over the course of the year. Believe me when I say that she dropped A LOT of money at the casino's to win that $90,000.00 over time. Not really worth it to me unless of course you are a bigger winner than a loser in the statistics game. One can see whom really comes out ahead and prospers in the end. The casino's of course as with any business no business is in business to lose money and the casino's are no exception to that rule. One can see this easily using Las Vegas as an example. I visit there a couple of times a year and the place is constantly changing all of the time. Perfectly good buildings are being brought down and replaced with brand new multi-millions of dollar renovations. Now that takes BIG money to do. Where do you think that BIG money is coming from? Nuff said for now.

As far as "The Millionaire Next Door" book that you had mentioned I am familiar with that book title. Although I have yet to read it. Perhaps some day though. Thanks for the nice tip. Have a great day!

Keep the losing scratchers and losing tickets. You have to pay taxes on your gambling winnings but can offset your wins with your losses.

Your aunt should not have paid taxes on the entire $90,000 but on the net winnings but you have to keep track.

To all - I took the gf out yesterday for a nice meal and some shopping. I bought her a few goodies that she seen and wanted. I treated myself to a few things as well. (see my other thread regarding my new Speed Racer find. Thanks again to everyone for all of the nice replies. The next time I post regarding this topic it will be with all six numbers.
