    Verifying PayPal account

I've had my paypal account for many many years probably the first year they were in business. Today I get a message that a recent payment sent to me cannot be added to my account until I verify it. Which means one of 2 things, I give them my bank account info (cold day in hell) or I'm coerced into applying for their credit card. This is complete and utter BS. They ain't gettin' my bank info and I don't need nor want their assumed high % CC. So I'm left with the decision to close my PP account.

Certainly, I'm not the only one who has been through this and felt this way . . . . what are the PP alternatives these days?

This sounds fishy, I wouldn't give them nothing, find out where this payment that can't be added is coming from first.
You really need to be careful with stuff like this in today's world, proceed with caution my friend.

I'd proceed with caution but how do you use Paypal to make or receive payments without them having your banking information? How do they withdraw/deposit funds without banking rounting info or account numbers.. I'm confused..

About 10 years ago, I set up a free checking bank account and linked paypal to that. Works great.

How have you been this long without giving them your bank information????? How else does Paypal work without a bank account to drop money to? I have had one set up with them for probably 10+ years. Never thought about it since! It may have something to do with them breaking from ebay and updating their IPN. If so, don't sweat it! Paypal is a safe company.

they have my credit card for payments and we just use the balance for other stuff. You at least have to have a CC linked to the account, verified just means that the address is confirmed as yours. There is no reason to link a bank account unless you want direct deposit of funds.

Partially it's a check to confirm you are who you are saying you are. You could always attach an account and then remove it. I have one of their debit cards and it's pretty nice actually. I use it for online purchases with places that don't take Paypal and ones I don't want to give my personal credit card info to.

                  Thanks for the replies guys . . . .
Ok on the payment I know the guys so it's cool
                  This is Paypal
I have a CC on file already and when I need money which is rare, they send me a check.
If I was a new account I could possibly understand that but I have litterally had this account since they opened their doors . . . .

I applied for the master card and it actually works really well. I too refused to link any banking account but I figure the credit card is good and can be used just like any card. I don't have any carry over balance as I pay it each month so I don't care what the interest rate is
