    Congratulations to Queen Elizabeth II

As of today the Queen is Britain's longest-lived monarch...

Today she surpassed the reign of her great-great-grandmother Victoria and became the longest-reigning British head of state and the longest-reigning queen regnant in history.

It's hard to imagine the world without her.

Hopefully we don't have to think about that for a LONG time

For the last 24 hours the media have done nothing but talk about all the good she's done for this country. No one ever sees or hears about the queen unless it's her birthday or she's walking in a line collectin flowers from the people. She like many of the work shy others in this so called 'GREAT' country of ours is nothing but a burden on the tax payer.

            So yeah, well done ma'am.

As for David Cameron, he's just running the country into ground.

I liked her speech when she was talking about "we all have to make financial sacrifices in order to save the country", while adjusting the diamond-encrusted crown on her head.
I think that was the year when her employees didn't get a Christmas party in order to save money...

Wasn't long ago she was asking the then Prime Minister for money to clean her palaces, because she'd only got seven million in savings. The poor woman.

I think someone got it wrong when they called it The Monarchy. It's more like The Mockery.

Naked Gun forever ruined my image of the Queen. I halfway expect to see Frank Drebin behind her in pictures.

England should've gone through a French Revolution as well...behead all those pompous freeloaders.

                      I feel sorry for her.

People talk all these negative things about her, as if she chose to be born Queen.

How much philanthropy would help sooth the naysayers?

And, if the naysayer stance is to remove the "royalty" thing altogether---I guess that's a kind of solution...but, in my experience, something like that (along with being difficult to maneuver) would likely be the precursor to another country/government problem just as destructive---and, then you're right back where you started, but without your country-defining royal family.

I dunno, if I was English, I'd be proud of that iconic institution, and what it means to the morale of my country.

She is one of the richest people in the world, yet when her castle got damaged in a fire, she had the bill sent to the tax payer.
She is not a philanthropist. She's not into charity.
I don't mind people that were born into wealth (good for them!), but you can easily give enough of it away without any damage to your "lifestyle".

I find it odd that the biggest fans of the Queen do not have to pay for her lifestyle, and do not have her as a monarch.
Belgium has a monarch. The previous one bought a humongous yacht just before stepping down (from tax payers money) because he needed to "maintain his normal lifestyle". Then complained how hard it was to keep the boat running on his "meager pension". He needs four people (servants) to keep his yacht running. That's just the boat, he also has a castle or two. And he's the ex-King!
If a fan of monarchies really likes them so much, you can have ours!

I always thought it was weird having them as the head of their church starting with a murderous fat king that beheaded multiple wives and then started his own religion which still exists today.

Kinda makes the origin of Mormonism seem kinda tame in comparison

She's not even English, she's German. There was a thing on TV a few weeks ago (you guys in the U.S. may or may not have got it), where her Father was throwing Hitler salutes and teaching the young Queen to do it. Only once it was shown. Don't make the BIG fuss over that one do they? Anyone else, they'd still be using it against them now.
