Anybody watch Colbert's premier last night ?

    I thought it was meh.

The audience cheering Ste-ven - Ste-ven - Ste-ven won't happen much longer when they realize this isn't The Colbert Report

    Just my opinion

Agree. I wanted to like it, but meh. Then again, it took Fallon a while to find his way. You're right, though - I'd rather see The Colbert Report.

Fallon is so dang nonthreatening and likeable he's kind of in his own category.

Colbert though, I was comparing him to my personal favorite Late Night host Craig Ferguson - and Colbert failed miserably.

Letterman (in later years) was uptight, condescending and an all around a jerk... And Colbert seemed to grovel at his feet.

I don't like to use the words "sold out", but things are what they are and everyone can see it for themselves

I've never been a big fan of one-sided political punditry disguising itself as comedy.

I watched a small bit of it. It felt a little sterile and the set a little too newsroom like to strike me as a late night replacement for Letterman. If only CBS were smart enough to grovel at the feet of a late night master and beg Craig and Geoff to come back...!
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

Second night viewership numbers down 44% from previous night. Ouch.

Yeah...I won't bother watching until I start hearing good things.

I loved Ferguson too, thought he was hilarious. It was a good, funny show you could watch and relax.

Really I find him uninteresting and unfunny. pretty much boring. I'd rather turn tv off.

                        Tough freaking crowd

I watched most of the first week's shows and laughed a lot. Sure, all the bits weren't always hilarious, but Colbert is just brilliant and witty in how he handles everything, and is always a pleasure to listen to. Also love the way he engages his guests. I like Fallon too, but heard him described the other day as "aggressively vacuous", which I would agree with..

...and that's exactly why NBC loves him and gave him the tonight show

Last night shows are a waste of time imho. If something big happens on one I'll watch the clip on YouTube. Until then I'm out.
