Martin Milner, who starred in the huge hit '60s and '70s show "Adam 12" -- which spawned generations of kids who wanted to become cops -- has died.
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
I'm saddened to hear this--I enjoyed him in Adam-12 and many other performances. Just yesterday, he was the victim on Columbo. I think the first thing I saw him in was Life with Father, a favorite of mine on TCM. RIP.

That really stinks, he also did many 1950 movies, like westerns which he usually played a cavalry soldier,
and he made a couple of movies opposite John Wayne, and I think he was also in the movie, The Longest Day?
He had a long connection to Jack Webb going all the way back to the 1950's incarnation of Dragnet. May he RIP and condolences to his family. Also saw that Randy Mantooth(Emergency!) has disclosed that he's been diagnosed with cancer.
I love "Adam-12" and he was so damn good as Officer Malloy. I still like to watch "Adam-12" to this day and find it is holding up very well for me.
Just a theory but I bet his character in "Route 66" was most likely responsible for the name "Tod" (or Todd) becoming briefly popular (or seeing its peak numbers as a name) from the early to late 60s.
I know that I'm weird, but I used to prefer to watch "Adam-12" and "Emergency!" over cartoons, when, later on in the 70's, they aired during the afternoon.
Many condolences to Mr. Milner's family and friends on his passage. Loved him on ADAM 12. May you Rest Peacefully.
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.
My Dad was a cop in NY. He had a friend/partner that looked a bit like Malloy so as a kid, I always thought that Adam-12 was about my Dad's friend. I would watch every episode hoping that Dad would show up somewhere to assist. It wasn't until later (maybe around first grade) that I understood that the show was about LA not NY cops and that Malloy and Reed were fictional characters.
If I had only spent a tenth of the time studying Physics that I spent learning Star Wars and Baseball trivia, I would have won the Nobel Prize.
