Another year with no MDA Telethon

The MDA Telethon and labor day seemed inseparable.

Still burns me up what they did to Jerry

It felt like the claxon of doom to me, "School starts tomorrow!".

I didn't even know it had been yanked in the first place.

I just read up on it.

Well, Jerry did retire from it in 2011, the man is 89 years old.

Appreantly, even people with muscular dystrophy criticized the telethon...I'm not going to weigh an opinion on it...but here's an article about it...

For millions of viewers, the Jerry Lewis Labor Day MDA Telethon was a TV tradition. But Lewis retired from hosting in 2011, and this year, the Muscular Dystrophy Association announced the annual telethon was over. Here's a look back the former holiday weekend staple.

We're at the point where we don't watch telethons anymore, the ALS icebucket challenge is the new telethon IMO.

The last time I saw the MD telethon, it was on one local channel. I have 1200 channels now, pretty easy to miss.

^^^ I agree. I think telethons are a charitable tool from the past. There are SO many ways to raise money now, that telethons seem kind of passé these days.

I haven't watched it in years either, but it was nice just knowing it was still around as a remnant of the past.

                  Kinda like Sesame Street
