Wow! That's some line-up! One could argue that 17 or 18 (or more) of those 'shows' are TV classics.

Very cool. That's a real snapshot of what the '60s pre-"rural purge" television landscape looked like. Things changed massively between around '69-'72, and by a couple of years later the American TV scene was almost unrecognizably different, which was such a key point to ushering in the distinctly '70s/'80s pop cultural milieu that our generation grew up in.

It sure is! The great Jack Davis did lots of work for TV Guide, I love it!

Interesting, there are a few shows there that I've never heard of, I guess they were unsuccessful ones that didn't last beyond a season and were forgotten.

Most of the Friday night line-up. lol

However, when you click on the link and view the full weeks line-up, it's a bit of a 'wow' moment. A lot of, still, very well known shows/series.

This says a lot about the way TV has changed. The shows in that picture are 50 years old, and yet most of us know what they are. Why? Reruns. Back in the day When there was only 3 networks, and a couple of syndicated channels, reruns of shows that were 5 years old or more wasn't uncommon. Today w/all the cable and satellite channels it's possible to see a show for one season, and never see it again, and the networks don't bat an eye. I'm glad I grew up in the time frame I did, when characters on TV shows were still iconic. When all of our classic fave celebs are gone, and we're not around to keep their memories alive, will TV still be this iconic? I don't think so.
