70's American Bands thread

America formed in England, but were American kids in military families stationed there.

Another one that hasn't been mentioned is Fleetwood Mac - however, it is well known that they started out as a UK group...but since the most famous lineup includes Stevie Nicks & Lindsay Buckingham of the US, I'm not sure where they stand officially. I guess we'll have to share that one with the UK.

I think the closest the US ever got in comparing a band to the "Beatles" would be the Beach Boys. I don't see the Eagles sharing much similarity.

Then there's also the Doobie Brothers.

It might be that we don't really consider him to be "band". Originally yes, but now he's kind of the whole act. I would even go so far as to say that just about nobody could name another member of his band (without cheating).

Eagles are my favorite band period, so I put them up top. I got to seem them on the "Hell Freezes Over Tour". Expensive for the time but well worth it. They sound so perfect you'd swear they were lip-synching.

Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band would be right behind them. Kind of skirts the line of solo act with backup band though...

The original Alice Cooper band, from 1968 thru 1974-

Alice Cooper, Dennis Dunaway, Glen Buxton, Mike Bruce, and Neal Smith.

And there was absolutely no cheating on my part The original AC band were one of my biggest musical influences. I grew up wanting to be Glen Buxton, basically, hehe.

Honestly, I don't know why I didn't list them!
