I also like Hammond better. Has he publicly said why he is no longer Sanders yet?

I doubt it has to do with being the voice of SNL; he said he records his tracks from home.

At the rate Adam Sandler is going, he might be lucky to land that role soon
If Sandler ends up as Colonel Sanders...that will be just ironic.

I think they're just trying to introduce him to a new generation to of course drum up younger business. But we remember the original... And thanks to YouTube they can look him up.

I'm waiting for Lee Majors to show up as the Colonel. Lee's from Kentucky.

I haven't cared for the new marketing strategy because honestly it dilutes the brand. If they were going to revive Colonel Sanders as a character/spokesman, I think they should have done the work to find a good actor who would remain as the face of that character (the way McDonalds did with Ronald McDonald). Bringing in different actors to emcee the role is quite honestly confusing, because now the public doesn't know if it's intended to honor the late founder or make fun of him. I think the execution has been terrible.

It is indeed a strange campaign. I felt that Hammond was definitely playing him as a goofy old man. Wonder how it's translating into sales. I think I've eaten KFC less than 10 times in my entire life, it's simply WAY too salty for me, and even though these are kinda funny they ain't getting me any closer to having it an 11th time.

Am I the only person that thinks of a 1800's plantation slave owner when I see Col Sanders ?

The Norm commercials are great, very tongue in cheek, and I sense this whole thing is heading somewhere. Each ad gets a little sillier.

I just found this. Probably because my buy one, get one, coupons were going to run out on Nov-2 so I utilized them.

I'm not quite clear, but I think there is a big clue in the ads emphasis on each one stressing that he is "the real col. Sanders." I think there is supposed to be some sort of tongue in cheek joke them obviously not being the Colonel.

All that said, do they make you want to buy more KFC? One of the best known campaigns that was, in reality, a failure was the "Quiero Taco Bell" Chihuahua. While the ads became extremely well-known, complete with its own merchandising, Taco Bell's market share actually declined during its run.

There is a spoof from Funny or Die with John Goodman as the next Col. Sanders.

That's an excellent point. What's funny is we were in out shopping a few weeks ago and my wife wanted to eat there, so we went in. I was surprised how improved (and simplified) their menu was now. That and the portions were measurably bigger. But it also made me think about their advertising. You never hear any of that on their commercials. Everything just seems to be pushed around the gag of Col. Sanders. I still can't get over the fact I had a cousin who was fired directly by him in the late 70's. What a hilarious piece of infamy to possess.
