    Frank Gifford RIP

He was up there in age...but still shocking to see the main staple of Monday Night Football for so many years pass away...

Frank Gifford, a Pro Football Hall of Famer for his great career with the New York Giants, died Sunday morning at age 84.

Oh, he was not a bad football player himself.

Back in his day he was a tough son-of-a-gun and I always enjoyed him on MNF. In the end he was looking pretty bad, beyond his actual age. I'm sure those years of not so many rules and little protective gear in the NFL caught up to him. RIP Mr. Gifford.

      Wow, RIP

I remembered watching this recently. Great Evel video and Gifford interviewing. FF to 5:30 and 8:53 for clips of Gifford and Evel Kneivel.

Another great clip from 1971 Monday Night Football with Howard Cosell, Don Meridith and Joe Namith.

The Giff, Cosell and the Dandy one were the faces of Monday Night Football when I first got into it. They worked great together. Turn out the lights one last time.

A truly sad day. NFL loses one of it's truly iconic and charismatic personality and player. RIP Frank. You are sorely missed.

Prayers and condolences go out to Mr. Gifford's family, friends, and fans. On a side note, one of his former teammates was originally from my hometown of Poulsbo, WA.

Even I, a non-lover of football, knows about Frank Gifford. And yes, it's sad that the NFL has lost such an iconic figure. RIP Frank.

To me, he was the voice of Monday Night Football.

                      RIP, Frank.
