I'm going to miss him. He's extremely great at his particular schtick, but I have to admit that I haven't watched the show regularly for a few years now.

I've recently started watching John Oliver's LastWeekTonight, and it seems Stewart is still leaving quite a legacy behind. Also wondering if Colbert will be leaving politics behind on his Late Show run this fall.

I was a daily show fan from the Kilbourne days but like Aaron, I don't think I've watched in years. The show grew up after 9/11 and while I still liked it, I did miss the whimsy.

Oddly, I never miss a Last Week Tonight.

I literally have never seen one episode of the Daily Show. Just clips on the MSNBC shows. I may be the only person in North America who can say that. The problem is that I've lived in Alaska for over 20 years now, so the show was always on too early here, and by the time it became popular I had sort of missed the boat.

          Love John Oliver, though.

To be honest I only watch the Daily Show for the Stewart monologue

Once they start doing the on the scene correspondents sketches I turn the channel

Will watch the interview if it looks interesting but 99% of the time I don't watch it.

I always watch The Daily Show and will really miss it. Especially now with the election cycle coming up. I haven't been watching John Oliver, but I see they regularly post stuff on YouTube, so I plan to start watching him now.

I think the two shows are pretty different. Oliver only has a half-hour once a week, so he just basically picks a topic (not necessarily whatever the regular media is fixated on at the moment) and goes off on it. It's funny, but probably not the right format for covering the daily minutiae of the election. Also, the show always seems to end with people dressed in mascot costumes, no matter what the topic was.

I saw a few minutes of one of his shows once when I was at a friends house late one night so I don't guess I'll miss anything there, haven't had t.v. service of any kind in the house in over 2 years

One of my favorites. Never miss it. Hate mainstream news media. Loved being able to laugh while staying informed, with no restrictions on what he says. He kissed no ones back side wether you liked his opinion or not. Definitely a hole in my late night viewing.

Haven't known the Daily Show's status for years, as I've been separated from regular TV programming for the last 15 years.

But, I'll say this: What Stewart has achieved via the Daily Show (and almost the same can be said for Kilborn) can't be overrated. To take politics and blur the line between it and comedy as significantly funny, pertinently and poignantly as he has, to me, makes Stewart (alongside certain men like Bill Maher) one of our country's greatest heros.

The Daily Show, under Stewart's tenure took political examination via satire/comedy from it's SNL Weekend Update-level-status into loftier places that more accredited "political" shows (Simpsons, South Park) got too much credit for, as they had the "animation/sitcom" aspect to hide behind.

Apparently Stewart is moving on---just thought I'd give him public props.
"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix

Letterman and Stewart's departures are the end of an era in late night TV.

Love John Oliver's style. It's funny, and has lots of really relevant info not a lot of people know about.

I've often wondered if it was John Oliver who does the Region-1 BBC-DVD promos ?

                              They're on all R1 Doctor Who DVD's
