Does anybody actually watch any of the Sci Fi Channel shark movies ?

Seems like every time I turn on Sci Fi Channel they're playing somekinda cheapo killer shark movie.

Is this a current trend that a lot of people like ?

Is this the new zombie craze ?

I refuse to watch any shark, bugs, snakes and disaster movies on Syfy anymore. Needless to say I haven't watched many movies on that channel for the past few years.

Only Sharknado3 which was a blast in how it harnessed the power of pure stupid. When they blasted off into space I thought that they had better not let me down and have some sharks in space. Boy did they come through.

I was super-excited to get SciFi Channel. And then I got it. The fun ended there...

If they ever manage to combine sharks, Nazis and UFOs in one movie, they'll play that movie 24/7.

I'd never seen one before. Tried to watch #1 this weekend. Couldn't get past the bad effects. And people say Bruce looks fake in Jaws. Nothing on screen looked real. I just determined it wasn't for me. I'm sure #3 is better now that they are more self aware of what they are doing and how they are serving it. But I couldn't get into it.

Ditto! I miss the old Sci-Fi Channel. Remember this?

I'm not sure whats happen with cable but its seems everyone in charge is trying their best to make it not even worth having anymore.

I wish I had more channels like MEtv along with a good classic cartoon and music channel.

Even #2 had dodgy effects but #3 had improved effects. Still looks like CGI much of the time but it's a lot better.

I think I can count on one hand the number of times camp was successfully accomplished intentionally. (Black Dynamite comes to mind).

I almost put "Black Dynamite is the exception" but that was made with so much love and care, it's not in the same category as this stuff that "siffy" farts out.

I have no interest in the bad on purpose trend.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Didn't mean to get the conversation off track.

I did go out of my way to watch the first Sharknado. I've always loved bad films and, to be honest, it was a very bad film. It's success has, however, led to Syfy doing what companies tend to do- replicate it with expectations of similar success. This most recent one dropped a lot in ratings, BUT it still scored more viewers than cable nets generally get. Not sure if the fad is leveling off.

The only Sci Fi Channel movie I actually enjoyed was a remake of the Philadelphia Experiment.

Not sure if Sci Fi made but it felt like they did.
