I picked up Mego Enterprise Star Trek Bridge vintage for 20 bucks. Was missing one stool. Came with a broken Kirk and McCoy managed to fix em up too.
There's a little crack in the top white piece near the carrying handle. 20 bucks Great stuff, even came with the view screen cards and the transporter works well.

You would crap your draws if you saw how much thrift stores throw away that could be useful. Found out that a reel to reel player I tried testing, and it started to smoke after a loud pop, got thrown out. I asked them why they threw it out and they said because it was broken....I was like "It's a 50 year old machine...you could have parted out just the clips for the reels to stay on the machine for what you had the piece marked for." Not to mention the meters they had on the machine that were still good. It just boggles the mind that these people don't THINK! before they do something. I'd love to work for the place...but they have a policy that the people that work there can not buy things from the shop. I guess there would be a conflict of interest because I would probably buy all the good stuff before it hit the shelves. But I would also be making them money on the stuff they throw out. They also literally dump thousands of hardcovers/paperback a month. Damn shame.

Bro same here.. They offered to pay me decent money to price their toys, and antiques but I wouldn't be allowed to buy anything unless it had been on the shelves for more then 2 weeks. I truly realized how stupid these people were when they destroyed around 400 LP's because they had no shelf space to put them..you'd think they throw away the old ones that had been there for weeks and then I ask them if legos ever come in boxes since I buy them in bags of 7lbs.. they told me they throw them away

Not very many vintage items hit the local thrift stores but they are usually overpriced when they are found. One of the them had nude Charlie's Angels dolls for $50 each last summer. Their hair were a mess and their arms and legs looked chewed up.

Over the past 20 years I've never found anything vintage at my local thrift stores but then again I'm not a regular there.

I run a FB toy group with 18,000 members. The Thrift store finds posted there daily give me hope. Keep looking!

I buy/sell for a living, too. I have sort of given up on thrift stores anymore. It's sorta tough to make a living picking thrifts if you want to sell vintage items. I used to find lots of stuff at thrifts but it's just not the same anymore. I stopped going because it's a huge time commitment with little pay off. I stick to estate sales and private appointments...

I hit estate sales as often as I can. sometimes you hit, sometimes not. there are so many people that haunt these things it can be crazy and I have neither the time nor the inclination to be there at opening and "fight" with people for anything. but, then, I am only looking for myself and my own enjoyment, not for resale
