Ever feel left out of the 70's/80's nostalgia craze ?

    I'm a 70's kid on the cusp of 80's

I love Big Jim but never heard of his PACK ... in my day it was just camping

Loved GI Joe Adventure Team but never heard of Super Joe

I just don't get Adult Swim shows. ( not counting Robot Chicken)

    Am I too old ?

I often feel left out on the Re-Mego stuff. Most of the licenses I have zero interest in. Same with the Reaction stuff. Love the style but the majority of the license choices leave me cold. Fight Club!? Pulp Fiction!? What the!?

I really don't care for the adult swim stuff either and I have to admit I don't like Robot Chicken. I mean I do get the appeal of seeing Mego style figures animated. But the humor is just too mean spirited for me.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Well, the world of entertainment and toys is so vast, you can't be a fan of everything, can you? And I never force myself to consume what I know isn't my thing. I've tried, and it rarely works. So don't feel bad or old if your nostalgia is different than mine. With all the choices, channels, products, and whatnot, today's kids will have even less in common when they grow up, I'd imagine.

You know me, 70s diva extraordinaire!

Even though I didn't play w/ most of this stuff as a kid, I have heard of a lot of the toys b/c of the commercials that were on after school and on Saturday mornings. My issue is sometimes feeling left out of the more modern stuff when folks on the board start talking about superheroes and characters I've never heard of. More of my exposure to this kind of thing came from 70s TV not comics.

Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic

Don't know about too old, I'm a year older and remember when Big Jim went "PACK" - I even got Warpath but that was it. I also remember when GI Joe stopped the 12" stuff and started to go smaller ( 9"? ) although I never got any, my GI Joe and Big Jim day were pretty much over by then, I think at that time I just liked my Megos as I had really started reading comics.

I feel like I missed out on some of the best stuff because I was born in Dec. '73 and cant really remember anything before '80.

There was some really inventive and cool stuff in the '70s. Micronauts maybe the coolest looking toyline I've ever seen and I never got a chance to play with any of them.

                Mileage varies on everything.

I personally don't understand the ravenous fan base for Ghostbusters or Back to the Future, fun comedies I enjoyed but nothing more to me. To each their own.

I never got swept up in "Mutant Mania" in the 80s, no love for the X-Men or Wolverine comics.

I think the Real Ghostbusters animated series is better than the movies.

I can see that, it was certainly above average for the time.

I think of a lot of the stuff like relatives I liked but rarely saw. I had two Big Jim outfits, but no Jim. I had Mike Powers and Knight of Darkness and a little SMDM, no Joe or Super Joe. Some Star Wars, one Shogun Warrior....Evel's cycle but no Evel. But friends had some of the other stuff, or I admired it in catalogs though it never made the cut when I had to make my choices. I don't feel left out, but I don't have a lot of the connections others do.

I think my biggest problem is i'm a 70's kid but today the late 80's/90's are back in vogue.

You know you're getting old when you watch VH1 Pop-Up Video Classics and never heard of most of the songs

Last weekend my kid wanted to spend his first pay cheque at "80s ToyCon". I tagged along but knew what i was in for. Tables full of toys i stocked on shelves as a teenager and the majority of 80s kids now have young families, so it was "wandering toddler city".

None of this bothered me but I did feel that I should hike my pants up to my armpits and catch dinner around 3:30.

                              Total spent by me $0.00
