I'm not so light-hearted. It's easy to see a Terminator scenario on the horizon unless precautions are made."No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris MannixComment

I've been reading articles about this, and I'm just not buying this. Either the articles aren't explaining it well, or the criteria doesn't make sense to me and these researchers just got away with a lot of publicity about nothing.
First of all, why is this in a robot at all? If they're testing an AI program why is the fact that it's in a robot important.
Second of all, I don't understand how this test is sufficient for displaying self awareness. To me it's purely a logic test - and computers have solved much more complex logic issues before.Last edited by Brazoo; Jul 17, '15, 3:24 PM.Comment

I hope if it does happen Asimov's law come into play:
First Law: A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
Second Law: A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
Third Law: A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.Comment
