Spend hours with my dad on seemingly endless shopping errands- ugh, the man loved to shop many a good afternoon away! However, one outing chanced to get my first (and only) WGSH: Robin and capt America! (why not batman instead is anyone's guess)

That was us as kids too. Except for the walking to school, my sister and I had to ride the bus. Also, I loved looking at the Sears and J.C. Penney catalogue before Christmas. There was no internet and that was a great way to scope out what you thought you needed from Santa that year. I can also remember my mom renting a VCR for a family movie night along with a couple of movies. Those were the good ole days. A.M. Radio in the '78 Dodge Aspen coming home from my grandparents house at night, we could pick up the Grand Ole Opry. I get misty just thinking about it.

Read a comic book with no sex or swearing in it, when company came over, I was only there for the meet and greet
then sat in my room, reading comics and or playing with my Trek mego's, no tv or video games. Today I visit friends
and there kids are running around, pestering, being smart mouths and playing there $400 PS4 games and actually
cursing, but the parents yell at the dogs for jumping around.

Thought of another one. Being left by yourself in the toy department. I mean my mom was over in women's clothes and my dad was over in sporting goods but I was pretty much by myself in the toy section.

My parents fixed lunch or dinner, and that was what we ate.

Make my own spending Money by working. By 14 I had bought my own car (57 Chevy). From that point forward I paid for everything myself. Didn't have to ask for anything. That's a feeling kids now a days will never know.

If you were in high school, you'd have to take typing class, and type up you're reports on a typewriter, (don't forget the ink eraser or eraser tape or liquid paper).

Or maybe if you were into photography, you'd have to buy the proper film for your camera, (as well as flash bulbs), and when your film was filled up, take it to the drug store and wait to have it developed.

Learned how to READ and WRITE in cursive in school. Schools just bypass both these days.
Writing letters and mailing them instead of using the computer to text someone.
Doing errands for parents when they asked.

Cleaning the bathtub, making my own bed, walking the dog, cleaning the cat litter box, using scratch paper for math homework, reading actual books (both paperback and hard cover), washing dishes by hand, eating what my mother served me without complaining, having to clean up other people's mess after they finished destroying the bedroom that I just finished cleaning (the most unfair thing of all. I shouldn't have had to clean it twice on account of someone else. Not only that, she was never punished and I was slapped dead in the face and told that she was just a little girl, and why didn't I keep her from making the mess in the first place? Why? Because I was told to LET her play with my stuff and share, that's why! You can't have it both ways!)

Each morning I had to put both of my arms into molten lava and rub thumbtacks on my stomach or I wasn't allowed to go school, which was 72 miles away and buried in shards of glass I had to dig though with my bare hands.

And the most annoying part was that the older generation labeled us "slackers" because they said we were unmotivated, self-absorbed, rude, and entitled.
