Getting a job at 15 years old. Had to get working papers. $3.35 an hour. 28 hours a week. That's all the law allowed for minors. McDonalds

Actually had 2 paper routes from the time I was 12 to the time I was 14. When me and my brother started buying comics at, 9 and 12 respectively, the first thing our dad told us was we can do whatever we wanted with our allowance but if we wanted to spend more than that we had to get a job. Chores around the house wasn't going to get us a raise Since the age of 15 I've been gainfully employed for 30 years. So since the age of 12 I've been earning a wage. I don't think kids today can say that or do that.

I had to walk across the room and turn the channel on the tv.
I had to flip over records and cassettes if I intended to hear the rest of the album.
I had to answer the phone without knowing who was on the other end.
I had to go to the arcade to play video games. I mean... I had pong and Atari, but... ugg.
I had to wait for tv dinners and leftovers to warm up in a regular oven. I know microwaves existed, but my family didn't have one until mid-80's or so.
I worried I'd never see Star Wars again. The best I could do was look at my stickers and trading cards and listen to the little book and record thing.
Expectation is the death of discovery.

Settle for having only three or four TV channels.

I LOVED prank-calling!!! Kids these days are so deprived!! They have no idea what it is or how fun it was! Also, food fights in school were a blast!!! It is almost unheard of today! Again, kids today are deprived!!

I had a pen pal. Can you imagine a kid today hand writing a letter and waiting for a response?

Some good ones in there, remember trwirling the dial to tune in the stations on the tv, and only having four channels. Waiting for Xmas to watch a new blockbuster film. I remember we had a 6 m cable attached to our betamax, which had a remote at the end.

When it was family time there was no excuses.

Sitting at the table for supper.

Watching a movie rental with the family or television show together on a regular basis.

No trips to the city until the end of the month.

Turning everything in the house off at the hint of bad weather.

Not expecting any kind of allowance. Money given was a special event.

Walking to town or school unsupervised.
