Anybody else love Car 54 Where Are You ?

Growing up in the NYC area they never played Car 54 until the late 80's when it came on Nick at Nite.

By that time I had better things to do than watch old B&W TV shows i'd never seen before.

Finally it came to MeTV and I decided to give it a chance.

OMG, --- Car 54 has got to be literally the funniest TV show of all time.

I kid you not, it takes a lot to make me laugh -especially when dealing with older comedies.

I read it was filmed totally in NYC

I'm in love with this show

Yep, have loved it since I was a little kid and it was on Nick at Nite. At one point Nick had Al Lewis do a commercial as Officer Leo Schnauser and I drove my parents crazy imitating it.

There was just a marathon of it this past Sunday on a channel called Decades, which Wikipedia says is a sister channel to ME. ME was running it on Sunday mornings from 3 to 4 am but have stopped.

It's really cool to see all the character actors who show up, not to mention all races being treated equally in 1961. It was actually a very progressive show.

And Charlotte Rae, both before and after she became Sylvia Schnauser, usually stole any episode she was in.

Great show! If you love Car 54 check out Nat Hiken's earlier classic, The Phil Silvers Show.

I'm a huge fan of Bilko from way back but IMO 54 is even funnier

"There's a hold-up in the Bronx, Brooklyn's broken out in fights
There's a traffic jam in Harlem that 's backed up to Jackson Heights
There's a scout troop short a child, Kruschev's due at Illdywilde
          Car 54, where are you?"

I remember when Nick At Nite aired this, but I only saw it here in Oakland when I visited my mom in the 80s. Where I lived in So. Cal back then, Nickelodeon shared a channel w/ Comedy Central, so at 10 pm, (when Car 54 came on), it switched over to Comedy Central. This went on for a year, til our cable company dropped some channels and we got Nick At Nite all night.

Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

Toody and Muldoon make an appearance in an early issue of The Fantastic Four. I don't think they are refered to my name but there is no mistaking them.

I would imagine there are episodes on YouTube. I've watched episodes of F-Troop on there.

I got to see all the shows myself over a year ago when METV gave it in the early morning followed by Honey West.
Totally agree, the show is laugh out loud humor. Had a great cast. When you see Fred Gwynne and Al Lewis together in scenes you can see the chemistry between them that would translate well in the Munsters. Joe E.Ross character is hilarious. All the
character actors and guest stars also added to the shows short but memorable run.
