Wow very sad to hear this but with colon cancer it was kind of expected. He lived and played as hard as anyone in the NFL. One of the greatest Raiders ever. RIP Snake.

He lived hard and played hard. Definitely epitomizes the Raiders and the NFL in his era. Didn't have HOF numbers, but few were better at the time.

Always scares me when I read about player's dying i remember so vividly as a kid.

My first football hero...commanding the mighty Raiders when they were the REAL Raiders...their glory years.

Stabler wasn't very mobile (yet an effective scrambler), his arm was not very strong...but he was so accurate with those short to midrange passes...the coolest character this side of Montana.

Very fond memories indeed...I thank you Mr Stabler for those...rest in peace.
