Best brand of fresh breakfast sausage...

I'm a sausage nut. I absolutely love the stuff. I restrict my intake to once a weekend when I get up and cook breakfast. I've tried a lot...and Jimmy Dean original is the winner hands down. Perfect blend of seasonings...not too salty, very juicy without being greasy. Best country sausage out there.

The other brands I tried, from best to worst were:

George Jones sausage...very tasty with a nice salty black pepper kick. Very hard to find...if you see it, buy it!
Bob Evans original...a little milder tasting. Contains some hams.
Tennessee Pride...tasty but very dry and crumbly. Better when mixed in eggs.
    Johnsonville...pretty good flavor, but gristly.
    Farmland...just okay.
Hormel...a little too salty and greasy.
Armour...salty and greasy. Once was enough.
Banquet...bottom of the barrel. Skip this one.

Stores around here don't carry some of them brands including George Jones, Tennessee and Farmland.

I think Bob Evans is probably top of the line for me for brands.

My local ma and pa store grind their own country sausage so I usually buy that one.

Has a lot less salt than name brand ones

I know when I was a kid it was Parks. Do they still make those? I like Jimmy Dean too.

I'm more of a bacon man myself...but breakfast sausage is great too.

I usually buy Jimmy Dean and Farmer's John.

I also love chorizo...both Spanish and Mexican...which are different. Spanish chorizo is similar to lenguica...while Mexican chorizo breaks down like ground beef...and it's great for mixing into eggs, beans, etc...

          It's all good...

When I do buy sausage, it is usually fresh from the butcher shop.
