I'm a sausage nut. I absolutely love the stuff. I restrict my intake to once a weekend when I get up and cook breakfast. I've tried a lot...and Jimmy Dean original is the winner hands down. Perfect blend of seasonings...not too salty, very juicy without being greasy. Best country sausage out there.
The other brands I tried, from best to worst were:
George Jones sausage...very tasty with a nice salty black pepper kick. Very hard to find...if you see it, buy it!
Bob Evans original...a little milder tasting. Contains some hams.
Tennessee Pride...tasty but very dry and crumbly. Better when mixed in eggs.
Johnsonville...pretty good flavor, but gristly.
Farmland...just okay.
Hormel...a little too salty and greasy.
Armour...salty and greasy. Once was enough.
Banquet...bottom of the barrel. Skip this one.
