What's the Cheapest Gas You Remember Since You've Been Driving?

For me, I think it was late 1980's, I remember gas was around $.80 a gallon.

I would fill me Honda Civic up for less than $10 and it seemed like it lasted forever.

I remember whenever it went over $1.00 I'd get mad thinking what a ripoff it was to pay $1.00 a gallon.

I just checked gas prices in the area today....$3.29 a gallon. My psychological mark of pain was $3.00 a gallon and even though I have a relatively short commute to work, I still have to fill my tank up about once a week....yesterday it was to the tune of about $46 and I still had just under a 1/4 tank left. That's the most I have ever spent filling my tank even when it was empty.

    That's a tough one .........
I remember gas being REALLY expensive during the gas shortage of the 70's...
Gas stations had RED and GREEN flags showing if they even had gas.
Then there was the odds and evens license plate days.
At that time it was well over a buck.

For lowest, it would be after that...
I think I used to get "REGULAR" (not unleaded) for about 65 cents a gallon

Used to always go to Getty
Back then, they were the cheapest

Most expensive was always Esso and Hess

We had some near 80 cent a gallon gas in the Atlanta area even into the mid to late 90's.

80 cents ish for sure. I remember the stores having to add the extra digit to the signs when it broke a buck, ahhh the good old days.

I can remeber when I had to start driving to work, lucky enough to walk to my first job,it was .98 a gallon, but you had to make sure you got it before the weekend because on Fri. it always jumped up over a $1.00.That would have been in mid 1992.

                  Like a 1.09 in 93 at ampm.
Ampm Also had HighWay Smokes for 99cents a Pack
The guy that worked there also had great deals on a different kinda Smoke too. Age 17 & 20 bucks & I was fully loaded in more ways than one. Would last me more than a week. Those were the days.

Now,.. it costs me about 43 bucks to fill-up my Camaro. When I was working up north,.. I'd go threw about 125 bucks in gas a week.

Will you tell your kids the price of things you remember compared to today as our parents do?

My parents have constantly told me that they remember matinees at $.15, McDonald's burgers at $.15 or $.20 and cokes for a nickel.

Will we do the same with gas someday? I do remember my parents saying they remember gas costing around $.30 or so a gallon from their memory at some point in time.
