Yea this happened to the local Malls I went to when I was a kid and a teenager. I think I did a post on this before. Most of the local malls I grew up going to are no longer there and the 2 that are still there look nothing like it did back in the day. About 5 years ago one of the Malls closed and it looked like this one. It was really errie sitting there all by myself a week before it was demolished thinking back to when It was thriving with hundreds of people at any given time and all the good times I had there. When I was walking out I ran into several people who were thinking the same thing. A month ago I had some spare time and for nostalgic sake I went to one of the last malls from my childhood standing. I went in there and it looked like this mall and I got depressed and left wondering when this mall was gonna see the same fate as the others...Comment

Here in Oakland the MacArthiur/Broadway Mall closed years ago. Since Kaiser Hospital is on the same street, it just bought the property and built an extension of the hospital."Do you believe, you believe in magic?

Why go to a mall and spend the time money and gas, deal with pesty sales people, battle for a up close parking
space, when you can simply sit at home and order items on line. I think most people who go to a shopping mall
just go to get out of the house and get some excercise walking around and grab a bite at the food court, how many
people just go into stores and simply browse and buy nothing. I've walked into stores and most times I can count
the number of shoppers on one hand, meanwhile the store employees are just gathered around in groups talking
and pacing around, more employees than shoppers, that's why there's layoffs and knowbody hires.Comment

Empty mall like that would make excellent paint ball outings. Yeah, my local mall is slowly dying. I doubt it'll still be there in two years, but it's no big deal to me. I rarely ever go there.I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.
If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.Comment

We have---lessee---I think five malls within a 25 mile radius of each other in the Louisville/southern Indiana area. Heck the two biggest ones are less than a mile apart. I only go into malls anymore as a last resort (usually the only place to find a HOT TOPIC or a RAZZMATAZZ). The malls are usually pretty crowded on weekends, but that's most with rowdy, uncontrolled and unsupervised teenagers and hoods, so that pretty much keeps the older people away. During the week, tho, you could shoot off a rocket in any one of these malls and be lucky to hit a solitary soul. I think malls are on their way out as the more openly designed "outlet malls" take over and, of course, the Internet exerts its presence.sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.Comment

That was a cool little mall...it had one of the last two Oakland Woolworths stores there (the other one was in downtown)...it also had little food stands like in the Emeryville market place. It was in that mall where I bought the famous Farrah Fawcet swimsuit poster...ah...the 70s...those were the days.sigpicComment

The malls here in Poland are thriving, some more than others. I personally hate going to them, and the only reason I go is for the cinema. These days there is simply nothing I need to purchase from them. Food I live in the center of the city, so loads of places I can buy stuff, cloths I buy everything off Ebay, have the usual brands I buy, so know my sizing, plus I live out of my backpack for 8 months of the year lol.. So what else do I need? Dont buy electronic goods every week, even then I would check them out in the big stores, and go and find a bargain on the net.Comment

Malls have never worked over here, I don't understand it.
They open one up, and after two years, most of the shops are out of business..
