Big Trouble in Little China remake

I think we all knew this was coming one day.

Fresh off the success of his San Andreas, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is set to headline a Big Trouble in Little China remake.

I just choked on my milk! You really don't watch Big Trouble in Little China for the narrative (which is presumably what gets passed through to a remake). You watch it for the style, the one-liners, and the kung fu. So why re-do the fu?

Halloween won't end. The Thing had a prequel/reboot as did The Fog. They Live has been in remake hell for several years, alongside EFNY. This only makes sense.

but Rock is nuts. He fits the high camp, and can nail Russell's Burton, but this needs to be an indirect sequel.

I like both BTiLC and the Rock, but why is this even necessary? Aren't there any scripts of new things being sent to Hollywood? Books are being published every day. Remake something that deserves a remake like Red Sonja--not something that they did it right the first time.

I'm not usually bothered by remakes, but this is just DUMB.

Why can't they just make a sequel with Kurt?
He's just a truck driver,no reason to make him young and buff....lol
I think Russell could still pull it off.
If you want the Rock's star power fine, bring him in as jacks truck driving buddy
Who Jack gives the pork chop express to and continue on.....Your welcome Hollywood.

I dont normally feel strongly about remakes, its like what the hell why not, but this is a strong Noooooooo !!!!!!!!. The original is just the perfect 80's popcorn flick, and is simply a classic. I honestly dont know, if I could even watch the new one just out of interest, not to ruin the nostalgia.

What would be awesome would be a sequel/tie-in between Big Trouble and Buckaroo Banzai.

Jack and Buckaroo team up with The Rock to fight the World Crime League.
If I had only spent a tenth of the time studying Physics that I spent learning Star Wars and Baseball trivia, I would have won the Nobel Prize.

I totally agree - The Rock would be really fun in that roll, but I hope it's a Mad Max Fury Road style sequel and not an actual re-make.
