GREAT TOPIC - Probably my favorite thing to eat in the world is a fresh, traditional, large, "twister" bagel with poppy seeds. It's got to have a crunchy hard shell on the outside with a nice amount of chewiness inside.

My schmear would be whipped light cream cheese, then I'd add lox or onions or tomato slices and sometimes all three. If I lived closer to a place that made good authentic ones I might eat one every day - so it's probably best that I only live near places that make authentic Montreal style bagels. Which are okay, but meh...

I'm a bit of a bagel snob. I'm not into any bagels that add flavour or non-traditional ingredients into dough and if it's bought at a grocery store I will not go near it.

Here in NE Pa/NW Jersey you can't go a mile and not find a bagel shop or deli/bagel shop

I'm boring and prefer a plain bagel with plain cream cheese. But, I also really like cinnamon raisin, whole wheat, sesame seed, and asiago cheese ones.

FYI, for those of you coming to Mego Meet this year, there's a GREAT bagel place maybe a mile or so away from the hotel on Touhy Avenue, right near I94. I drive down there every couple of weeks to restock.

I used to like McDonald's steak and egg bagel but within the last few years they did something to them where they're always really dry and the meat is really stringy and has no taste -- almost like horsemeat

Bagels just aren't a big thing around here. The Meijer bakery might have three kinds to choose from daily, otherwise, it's those refrigerated ones in the grocery cooler aisle. Either of those choices are thick, cakey, and icky.
