I am from Michigan, and in my mind, have no accent. However living in the southern US for the past few years, I have had friends ask me repeatedly to say words so they can then laugh at my accent. Thank you. You just made my day.

There is something about English accents that sounds sophisticated.

I also like certain styles of Southern Accents that also have a sophisticated sound to it. It's hard for me to pinpoint what region of the South but it seems to be Southern Virginia/North Carolina....I'm thinking along the lines of Shelby Foote (he was a leading authority on Civil War history and was interviewed a lot in Ken Burns Civil War documentary).

My first girl friend when i was 12 was from Texas. Ive always had a weakness for a southern accent since.

Lo there do I see my Mother and my Sisters and my Brothers.
Lo there do I see the line of my people back to the begining.
                  Lo they do call me.
They bid me take my place among them.

Most people in America love British accents ......

I'd love to hear what the Brit's think of OUR way of destroying the Queen's English

I live in Arkansas (born in San Diego, so I'm not native) and nothing beats a pretty blonde speaking with a thick, Southern accent.

I also love Irish and Australian accents.

One reason I love the Australian sound is that it's kinda British in a Cockney sort of way, but it seems a little Irishy, too. There are Americanisms thrown in here and there, and there's just something that makes me think of how we talk in the American South. Maybe Australians are the rednecks of the British Empire? (I say that with the utmost respect!)

I'd like to know why British guys are always used on U.S. reality shows as the abrasive blunt guy....like Simon Cowell, Gordon Ramsey, etc.

Unfortunately, I've had American bosses worse than the two of them combined. Had a CFO at a previous company even mouth a few curse words at me while I was in the middle of a presentation. Another one was so angry that he ripped the phone out of the wall and threw it against the opposite wall.
