This has to be one of the most outrageous stunts ever attempted by a corporation.

GM is basically claiming via copyright law that they still own your car after you buy it, even if it's paid off, and that you shouldn't be allowed to work on it yourself, or even use your own mechanic. This is clearly nothing more than an attempt to monopolize on the repair and maintenance of your vehicle.

Perhaps GM should focus on producing vehicles that don't malfunction and kill their customer-base--whilst lying about recalls, no less--than on trying to screw with them after-market. Just my opinion .

I doubt they will make this a law. but, if they did, think of the bad precedent this would set. I mean the implications would hit pretty much everything. how many of us have made repairs to our own electronics, appliances etc. at some point or other?

I've read about this, it will die for the same reason, PIPA/SOPA. Companies trying to take things too far to make another buck, but passing something like this, in it's current form is political suicide for whomever is associated with it.
