Sports? What are these sports of which you speak?

Well, I don't watch sports either, and I don't care about Super Bowl parties. I can eat my own food and watch the TV shows I like."Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."Comment

That's a pretty one sided view of "sports". It's like judging the avengers movie because Downey had a drug problem at one point or saying Michael Jackson sucks because of his sordid history. I'm not saying you have to like them, but you clearly don't understand them.
I'm an art teacher who loves sports, sci fi, wrestling, my daughter, my dogs, hooters wings, Stella Artois and 2 ply toilet paper(mostly because of hooters wings). I would never just dismiss something I don't like (like rap music) by listing all of the worst examples of the culture. I don't like rap and I probably never will, but that doesn't discount it as an art form or a totally okay interest.Comment

It's borderline unbelievable, probably closer to odd, but...
I thoroughly like public speaking and delivering presentations
I can say anything to anyone with a straight face and make it totally convincing
See? It's not as exciting as saying I eat aluminum cans, but it's about the only thing I have going for me out of the ordinary.I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.
If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.Comment

Why, I even hear women folk play sports too! Can ya believe it?Comment

*sigh*
I'm sorry if I offended anyone with my facetious post implying that all professional athletes were drug abusers, murderers, wife beaters, etc.
I thought it was painfully obvious that it was a joke based on recent media events directed at Hedji's equally obvious joke about not knowing what sports were.
As punishment, I'll be spending the next several hours cleaning bits of eggshell out of my shoes.
(That too, is a joke.)Last edited by enyawd72; May 10, '15, 3:09 PM.Comment

you're over thinking it, all I said was I missed it myself, nothing more or less. No offense taken at all even if you were being serious. You know opinions and all that lol. Glad to hear it was sarcasm.Comment

I appreciate the encouragement, but don't be depressed. I'd have the tact not to invite you to a Metropolitan Opera PPV party if I knew you hated opera, even if the hors d'oeuvres were fabulous.WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.Comment

If you and I were friends and you invited my wife and i(or just me), I'd honestly give it a whirl if it were something you were excited about. Food, plus I get to see how I like opera. But yeah, if I hated it, obviously not.
I just think people go too long without doing something and at some point start wearing it like a badge of honor. I'm not saying the people here do that, but I have family members who act like that. My uncle refuses a cell phone even though my aunt practically needs him to carry one right now. My friend Dave won't golf because he thinks it's a pansy sport. Well, all of your friends are having a blast....why not join in?
I get I may come off as pushy, but man.....I never understood not experiencing things or sharing good times.Comment

I don't know if anything about myself is actually unbelievable...
These are all Internet-related:
-- My daughter and I made a 16-second parody video several years ago which has gone viral & been featured on multiple television shows and websites.
-- I sculpted a set of props (toys) for my kids 15 years ago; photos of these are now a widely-distributed meme.
-- There are two superhero/villain costumes I made which, if Googled, the ONLY photos you will find are those I have posted, or photos of me.
These are just interesting (IMHO):
-- I achieved one of my childhood "bucket list" goals of teaching myself to master 20 different methods/techniques of whistling.
-- As part of an international team effectively working on Peace in the Middle East, I narrowly missed attending the Nobel Prize Ceremony because we lost to President Obama.
-- I have successfully traced my wife's family tree back to the Fifth Century A.D. (still working on mine!)
-- I only have the one tattoo, but that was acquired approximately two hours after (and because of) visting three of the Earth's oldest known structures, each of which pre-date the Pyramids by more than 1,000 years.
-- I once consumed comedian George Carlin's backwash (I drank the remaining half of his unfinished bottle of Michelob)...
-- ...and Leonard Nimoy consumed mine (struck by thirst in a "No Food / Beverages" television studio, I let him finish my smuggled-in Dr. Pepper).
I had TICKETED(!) seats at the (12 July 1979) Disco Demolition at Comisky Park; I still have my ticket stub, as well as a shard of a disco record broken by Steve Dahl and signed by Lorelei (the current WLUP "Loop Girl"). Okay, perhaps that's not unbelievable, but this is: unlike most of the attendees (which included Michael Clark Duncan) I stayed in my seat until the park was finally evacuated.
I could probably think of some others, but that's all that comes to mind... at least all that I'm willing to share.Comment

Having read through other responses, I can add the following:
I, too, am fairly convinced I lived past lives because of distinct memories that I cannot possibly have.
I also know that precognition is a legitimate phenomenon, as I have personally experienced it in stark, cannot-be-coincidence reality on a number of occasions. And it is truly terrifying.
...which reminds me: I purchased Lottery tickets this past weekend because of certain circumstances, and I need to check them.
Regarding sports, I don't mind watching American football but only ever catch the Superboawl as my wife cannot stand the sport. On the other hand, I am an absolute Cricket addict and find it the ONLY sport that is completely riveting and irresistable.Comment
