Playing Captain America for a 4 year olds Birthday

The title says it all. I have a pretty good costume and volunteered to come at CAP for the birthday party for the son of a friend. The kid is crazy about super heroes, especially Cap and Spiderman, so I hope I make his day. I wish I had a little less fat around my midsection, but oh well! If I get pictures, I'll post them here.

You'll be a fine Cap and good for you for doing this. I'm sure that will be one thrilled kid!

Good luck! I've done a Stormtrooper and it was no picnic. Stay in character. It'll be hard not saying the things you want to say to party guests that may sometimes cross the line or want to fight you. When I was the Stormtrooper at a B-day party, one of the parents had the wise idea of making lightsabers out of pool noodles for the boys. Yeah, I turned into a white armored pinata pretty quickly. My first, and last, birthday party.

Please post pics! Mad respect to anyone brave enough to don a costume for the good of kids.

            Good for you!

When I went to a comicon in Ft. Wayne IN last May, a strapping teenager was cosplaying Cap in a nice off-the-rack costume. He was so good with the younger children and posed for many pix with them--I was a little choked up .

Well it went well, but not as I'd hoped. The birthday boy was a little weirded out by Cap showing up at his house. he didn't cry, but he wasn't thrilled with the whole thing.

The other kids were into it thought.

^You sir, are a brave man.

I have pretty much the same *ahem* physique, and there's no way I could dress up as a superhero. I applaud you.

My three options are Volstagg, Doc Ock, or Kingpin. That's it.

Way to go!! Until you've done this, you can't appreciate how hard your heart is beating. It's much harder than Godzilla is making it look. Well done!

Nice Rob! I've dressed up as Batman a few times for Cindy at her library. It's rewarding, but you're always afraid that ONE kid is going to show up.

I've been planning on finishing up a Cap suit for Halloween at some point. I may just do it now.

Yeah I think most of my cosplay days are behind me, but this was fun. Thankfully kids can often be pretty forgiving and this group was great. The shield is a great distraction too. They all wanted the shield which is really the best part of the costume. It's heavy and it was fun watching them try and pick it up.

I'm off to do a few situps.

I can sympathize--it's either the Penguin or Schott's Toyman for me.

                            The pix are great, though.
