Anybody taking a vacation this year?

I normally save my vacation time and flyer miles for when we have a tour to do, especially if it involves European fests and club dates. But this year I think we're staying close to home, so I think the wife and I might try to visit Las Vegas later this summer/early autumn. Other than going through there to play gigs, I haven't been back there since our honeymoon so it'll be nice

In all seriousness, the wife and I spent a long weekend in the Bay Area a couple of years ago and loved it ! No concrete plans yet for this year, though.

Mmm, my neighborhood holds a small version of Oktobefest, called Oaktoberfest...yeah, it's in Oakland, thus the addition of that A after the O, lol.

sounds like a great trip Hector, we are going to Busch Gardens VA this summer for a few days. the condo we rented has a shuttle bus so I expect to spend a lot of time at the Oktoberfest, LOL

Already blew through two weeks of my vacation time going to Japan last month. We'll probably take another week or so in the fall, maybe go to Florida to visit relatives (although a certain someone on these boards is putting a bug in my ear for another Japan trip in October!)

Anybody going anywhere?

I'm taking a small three day trip to Yosemite, May 29th-31st.

I figured after over a year of conditioning myself for long hikes...it's about time I put it to the test.

So me, a bud and his wife...we booked a cottage located inside Yosemite (three months ago)...it's located on the west side of the park, about a 20 minute drive to the valley. Planning on hitting the waterfalls...but...we decided not to tackle Half Dome, aside from it being a 14 mile hike (from valley to top)...its last stages are on the edge of the granite rock...and the last 400 feet to the top dome itself, is near close to a vertical friggin climb (temporary ropes are in place), well, THE HELL WITH THAT..as I'm a friggin pansy when it comes to heights like that, oh hell to the friggin no, lol. You also need a special permit to hike Half Dome.

But I'll be walking miles and miles, there's no doubt about that.

I'd like to check out the Sequoias too.

They say the best times to visit Yosemite are late May and early June, as waterfalls are at full blast, plus a bit less crowded than the Summer, so yeah...we have the perfect three day date.

I've never been to Yosemite before, so if some of you have, I'd appreciate some heads up where to go, and some other tips...
