Cool effect, I think I've seen that before but I don't remember where. As a magician ( amateur ) I have some ideas on how that is done.

He's a master slight of hand magician.

I know how the trick is done.

He has two full decks.

The main one at hand...is the full animation, no matter what the judges had said...the stick figure animation is set...until the very last card...that one single last card is the only card that has the seven of hearts stick drawing. The second deck is hidden from view...now...how he chooses the card, meaning, the method, is unknown to me...but magicians distract viewers by talking...he's doing the decision and swap as soon as Simon Cowell said seven of hearts...the magician inserts the called card at the bottom of the deck. Had Simon chosen the original called nine of clubs...the magician would be placed that particular stick drawing card at the bottom of the animated deck. He has all hidden 52 cards stick drawings at his disposal (to compliment his shown animated deck). So no matter which card someone chooses, he will implement that into his animated toon trick.

In theory, I sort of know, but in practice, never in a million years I could do it...takes literally thousands and thousands of tries, and years and years of practice...to master such a trick.

It is an amazing effect (neat animation)...thanks to his amazing slight of hand skill.
