    Direct TV anybody?

Does anybody here have Direct TV? If so what are your thoughts? I'm so fed up with my Cox cable that i just put in a set up order for Direct TV next sunday. Is 50 a month with 1 dvr box included a good deal? Its like 150 channels plus HBO. I hope thats a decent deal?

I've gone payTV-less for almost 4 years. Don't miss it one bit.

I had direct tv in the early years.

When I had them I had 2 boxes go out. After the second box went out I went back to cable.

I found out later during that time Direct TV was sending kill signals to fry pirated cable boxes. I'm OK with that, but they realized that these kill signals would also fry a percentage of legal boxes, and they decided the percentage of legal boxes was acceptable.

After that it would take alot for me to go back to them.

Had DirecTV from about '98 til mid '07....got tired of them raising rates on the basic package but not really adding any new content (stuff like Boomerang, VH1 Classic is another tier you have to pay for separately). Switched to Time Warner Cable and get everything I was missing on DirecTV without having to pay the extra. I do miss the Chiller channel a bit...

DON'T DO IT> They came out to my place, said I could get local channels but then we couldn't after it was installed. They didn't hook up the ground wire, just dropped it thru the deck. They blatently lied repeatedly on the phone. Abo****e worst customer service ever. We cancelled after 4 days and they charged us the full disconnect fee ~$350.00.
Then they kept billing us even though it was disconnected, then they tried to say we never sent the equipment back, but I had delivery confirmation. ARghghhhhhhhh I started looking on line and there are thousands of complaints. Just goole something like I hate Direct TV. Seriously, I know cable sucks to but DTV are on my Vengance list.
Don't just take my word for it. Research it online.

            I HATE DIRECT TV!!!!

I even made an "I Hate Direct TV" sticker for my truck.

Yeah yeah, How do I really feel???? Cheated and violated. F'ers
We got Dish and like it fine.

Have cable at home, Direct TV at our WV rental home. Just my opinion, but you get more channels for your money with Direct TV, however, we've had problems with reception during storms and I have never tried their internet service.

Right now, I'm happy with cable. There's a lot of competition going on right now and my brother has some sort of deal with digital cable plus internet access that's better than what I'm paying for standard cable and internet access.

Customer Service basically told him to call every 6 months or so and they would offer him an incentive to stay.

I had it in Baltimore and kept it when we moved to Florida. Not such a good cable service if you have a lot of rain in your area... No problems other than the need for a clear view of the southern sky, which clouds up around 4-5 nearly every day down here from June 'til October.

Sounds like a good deal to me. We pay at least that much every month and dont have the dvr or HBO. Personally i never watch it though. I couldnt even tell you what channels I do have.

Just be careful if you've got kids. They'll be wanting Game Lounge. That'll set you back another 4 bucks a month for that.

I've been a DirecTV customer for over 10 years straight, and have been much happier than with my cable companies (previously and for the basic lifeline cable I get for $8 a month now for spare bedroom and kitchen TV's). I still have TIVO with them with a dual tuner that lets me record 2 shows while watching something else that has been prerecorded. Not may DVR's allow that, so if it ever breaks, I will reevaluate, but for now, I'm happy.
