I know this subject has probably been broached a million times here, and I guess I'm aiming this at the site runners as much as everyone else, but would it ever be possible for the boards to have a "CHAT" function? We use IMs at my place of employment all the time to communicate between teams members (since we're scattered all across the country) and I just thought it would be cool for folks here to be able to talk to one another in "real time" if they felt so inclined. Just a matter of personal curiosity, I suppose. Thanks!

Anything's possible. Will it happen anytime soon? Not likely. Many of the worst messes in the hallowed history of this site had their genesis in chat. There are no plans to bring it back in the new forum format. -

Like Steve said we had some negative experiences with the chat room over the years that make me shy from returning to that.
I`d look at an IM feature when we upgrade the forum next.
