Can anyone do a copy of Star Wars despecialized 2.5?

I have no idea how to do torrents and don't have a way to transfer to blu ray but I am sure someone here has and I wonder if I can get a copy. We'll figure out something to make it worth your while.

I know all about torrents and can burn Blu-ray discs but I just saw the torrent for this and it's almost 20 gigs. Unfortunately I have a 135G monthly data cap right now so I'm afraid that I couldn't swing this one big download.

I'll see if I can do anything. I have access to the Harmy forums, joined a while back. I have SW v2.1 and whatever versions of ESB & RotJ that were out at the same time. Beautiful looking stuff.

I took a quick look and saw a download that was a DL-DVD size file.

Where did you find the torrent?

I have the 1.0 AVCHD double layer DVD of Star Wars Despecialized somewhere. It always was a little wonky in my player. Maybe they improved the encoding for 2.1 though.

I found it on Kickass, it was the only one there titled "Despecialized 2.5". It's 17.9 GB so it would fit on a single layer BD-R (but not on a DL DVDR as is).

^ That will be easier for everyone. I could download the files but don't have any way to burn them.

If anyone wants SW v2.1 ESB v1.0 & RotJ v1.0 I have those as mkv files that fit on dvd disks.

It was funny, on kickass I had to search Harmy's to find the files - if I just searched Star Wars despecialized 2.5 nothing came up.

I have an alternative to those massive BR files...
I took the time to obtain all those files, even the new ANH 2.5v.
I have a BR burner I've never used - never used because we don't use physical media anymore.
I run all my stuff through Handbrake and use iTunes via AppleTV.
I recompressed the movies and my naked eye can't even tell the difference.
ANH 2.5v is about 3.5Gb, whereas the two other ones are about 1.5Gb each.
They are the only versions I ever watch, forgot anything else even existed.

I really don't want to upload gigs on a 5 megabit upload link, so if you want me to pickup a thumbdrive, just cover my costs and they're yours.

Thanks pal, but it sounds a little complex for me. Plus my TV or blu ray player doesn't have Apple or. iTunes.

Just in case anyone is wondering, I was able to get them. A fellow MM member pointed me to a person that helped.

I had the first Harmy effort and it was a laudable effort but you could see the "seams". For instance, you could see the jiggle between the patchwork of covering over the Ronto or other CGI creatures in the Most Eisley shots and things like that.

Not so this time. the movie is overall sharper and almost all the tinkering it back to the original look is seamless. They were able to also draw more from 35mm prints and stills as opposed to having to use the low res 4:3 letterbox transfer of the original Star Wars (the only thing ever officially availaible) to fill in a lot of the stuff replaced by CGI. And when they still have to resort to the 4:3 transfer, the up converting looks much better.

It's a pleasure to see the old effects back in place. I was never a hater of the special editions. I actually enjoyed the prospect of seeing updated effects and edited scenes but only when the original version remained readily available.

Some of the groundbreaking work of those effects people was tossed away. The fun in seeing it is looking at how they dealt with the limitations they had. At certain angles they could not make the X Wings and Tie fighters move too fast so they are comped over backgrounds that movie fast.

The way they blotted out the wheels on the landspeeder. This movie fits in with the other 1970's science fiction movies once again.
